“Death” in the Bible is viewed as an “enemy” of humanity. The apostle Paul offered us hope from this last enemy, death. He wrote, “Death is to be brought to nothing.” “The last enemy to be abolished is death.” (1 Cor. 15:26, The New English Bible) How could Paul be so sure? Even though Paul had formerly been an enemy of Christianity, the one who had been raised from the dead, Jesus Christ, taught him personally. (Acts 9:3-19) This is why Paul also wrote, “For as by a man [Adam] came death, by a man [Jesus Christ] has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.”—1 Corinthians 15:21, 22.

EDWARD D. ANDREWS (AS in Criminal Justice from Zane State, BS in Religion at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, MA in Biblical Studies at Temple-Baptist Seminary, and MDiv in Theology at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary) is CEO and President of Christian Publishing House. He is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and Associates for Biblical Research. He has authored fifty-five books and coauthored and updated and expanded three books, as well as over 200 articles.
