BOOK DESCRIPTION
C. H. Spurgeon was one of the most influential Christian preachers and writers on the gospel and the life of faith. A devoted pastor, evangelist, and author, he repeatedly urged Christians to trust Christ, take God’s promises seriously, and remain faithful through suffering, uncertainty, and discouragement.
Known for such Christian classics as All of Grace, Around the Wicket Gate, The Treasury of David, and Lectures to My Students, Spurgeon produced an extensive body of books and sermons. His earnest concern for struggling believers continues to encourage readers to examine their convictions and find strength in Scripture.
THIS IS NOT A REPRINT OF C. H. SPURGEON’S ORIGINAL WRITINGS.
More than a century has passed since Spurgeon addressed the hardships of Christian life. His call to steadfast faith remains relevant, while contemporary circumstances require fresh application of biblical instruction. Financial insecurity, family conflict, declining health, bereavement, rejection, and uncertainty can unsettle believers and make ordinary responsibilities difficult to fulfill.
Anchored in Christ is a twenty-first-century update drawing upon Spurgeon’s concern for enduring confidence in Christ. I have preserved that earnest purpose while substantially rewriting and expanding the material for readers today. The fourteen chapters examine Christ’s sacrifice, resurrection, and promises; careful Scripture study; fear and anxiety; decisions during unexpected change; financial hardship; illness and aging; bereavement; marital strain; differences of belief within families; betrayal and rejection; recovery after serious mistakes; Christian fellowship and practical assistance; unfair treatment; and perseverance when relief takes longer than expected.
Wherever possible, I have retained Spurgeon’s serious concern for the spiritual stability of Christ’s followers. However, the chapter titles, explanations, and applications have been revised according to the historical-grammatical meaning of Scripture, with practical attention to the circumstances Christians face today.
My prayer is that this updated edition will encourage readers to examine their thinking honestly by the Spirit-inspired Word, draw confidence from God’s promises, fulfill their present responsibilities, and remain anchored in Christ through continued faith and obedience when life becomes difficult.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Charles H. Spurgeon (1834–1892) was one of the most influential Christian preachers of the nineteenth century. Known as the “Prince of Preachers,” he pastored the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, where thousands gathered weekly to hear his powerful, Scripture-centered sermons. A gifted expositor, prolific author, and passionate soul-winner, Spurgeon devoted his life to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and training others for faithful Christian service. His sermons, lectures, and books have shaped generations of pastors, teachers, evangelists, and lay believers. Among his many enduring works, The Soul Winner remains one of his most practical and stirring calls for Christians to reach the lost with courage, clarity, and compassion.
