BOOK DESCRIPTION
Most readers know David as the shepherd boy who defeated Goliath or the fugitive who fled from King Saul. But between the fields of Bethlehem and the throne of Israel lies a far richer story of service, danger, friendship, warfare, difficult decisions, patient waiting, and unwavering dependence upon Jehovah.
Every Day With David follows David from his private anointing by Samuel through his years as a musician, warrior, royal servant, outlawed fugitive, military commander, and finally king over all Israel. Currie Wells places each event within the geography, customs, political tensions, military realities, and daily life of the ancient world, helping readers understand not only what David did but also the circumstances in which he acted.
This is not a romanticized portrait of a flawless hero. David’s courage is presented alongside his fear, his loyalty alongside his failures, and his faith alongside the consequences of imperfect choices. Throughout it all, the inspired record reveals how Jehovah corrected, preserved, and prepared a responsive servant for the responsibilities of kingship.
Grounded in Scripture and enriched by historical and archaeological evidence, this volume brings David’s world vividly to life. Families, pastors, teachers, students, and thoughtful Bible readers will gain a clearer understanding of the shepherd who became a warrior, the warrior who became a fugitive, and the fugitive whom Jehovah prepared to become king.
