BOOK DESCRIPTION
EZEKIEL: Volume 2—Restoration and Glory: A Historical Grammatical Exegetical Commentary on Judgment, Restoration, and the Glory of God
Ezekiel: Volume 2—Restoration and Glory continues the historical-grammatical-exegetical commentary, covering Ezekiel chapters 25–48. These chapters move from oracles against the nations, through the restoration of Jehovah’s covenant people, and culminate in the vision of the future temple. Throughout, the focus remains on Jehovah’s holiness, His covenant purposes, and His ultimate glory among His people.
Chapters 25–35 contain Jehovah’s judgments on the nations: Ammon, Moab, Edom, Philistia, Tyre, Sidon, Egypt, and Mount Seir. These chapters show that Jehovah’s sovereignty extends beyond Israel, and all nations are accountable to Him. The downfall of these nations is not merely political, but a demonstration of Jehovah’s justice and His ultimate plan to vindicate His name.
Chapters 36–39 turn toward restoration. Jehovah promises a new covenant work, cleansing His people, giving them a new heart and spirit, and uniting them under the Davidic Shepherd-King. Gog and Magog’s final assault is met with Jehovah’s decisive victory, showing that the ultimate restoration is spiritual and covenantal.
