BOOK DESCRIPTION
This is a tale
About living and choosing;
The tears that come
With loving and losing.
This is a story
About learning as you go,
To touch every moment
As sincerely as you grow.
This is a journey
To memories that echo on;
To experiencing experiences
Before they are gone.
This is Poetry for Thought:
A Tale of Life.
With hopes to warm your heart,
And overcome the strife.
This is the story
That you will make your own.
I'd be remiss not to tell you,
To reminisce on every seed, you've sown.
So, come what may,
And let your musings fly;
Just remember to share a few
Before life passes you by.
This poetry book was written for inspiration.
A feel-good, family and faith declaration.
With a touch of humor and a Religious foundation,
I hope you enjoy my little creation.

The trials of faith and the pursuit of self-have taught many difficult lessons, while overcoming obstacles have given him a rare perspective beyond 20/20. Derrick is a Graduate from Belmont College with an Associates in Mental Health and later graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor's Degree in Technical and Applied Sciences. Since college, Derrick volunteers his time at nursing homes, works on preaching, and writing. Currently, he serves as a Pastor at the Church of Christ. As a third-generation preacher and sixth-generation Church of Christ attendee. It is safe to say that Derrick has over a hundred years of family history in the Church of Christ. Derrick accredits faith and family as the solid foundation he uses to guide his life. Over the last 20 years Derrick had poems published in various formats, beginning with his first published poem in "A Celebration of Young Poets," when he was just 18. Derrick takes an earnest look at the world we know today, while warming your heart with reflections of simpler times.
