BOOK DESCRIPTION
C. H. Spurgeon was one of the most influential Christian preachers and writers on the gospel and the life of faith. A devoted pastor, evangelist, and author, he repeatedly urged readers to trust Christ, examine their beliefs honestly, and demonstrate genuine faith through faithful Christian living.
Known for such Christian classics as All of Grace, Around the Wicket Gate, The Treasury of David, and Lectures to My Students, Spurgeon produced an extensive body of books and sermons. His earnest concern for the spiritual maturity of believers continues to encourage readers to take Scripture seriously and put its instruction into practice.
THIS IS NOT A REPRINT OF C. H. SPURGEON’S ORIGINAL WRITINGS.
More than a century has passed since Spurgeon addressed the growth and responsibilities of Christian faith. His call to sincere belief remains relevant, while contemporary circumstances require careful application of biblical instruction. Constant distractions, conflicting religious claims, moral compromise, and pressure to conform can leave Christians uncertain about what they believe and how their convictions should direct their lives.
Rooted and Grounded in Faith is a twenty-first-century update drawing upon Spurgeon’s concern for genuine belief and spiritual maturity. I have preserved that earnest purpose while substantially rewriting and expanding the material for readers today. The fourteen chapters examine confidence in Christ’s sacrifice, resurrection, and promises; understanding biblical doctrine; examining personal conduct; repentance and correction; consistent Scripture study; prayer; answering doubts; recognizing false teaching; controlling desires and habits; making costly decisions; practicing love and forgiveness; Christian fellowship and service; enduring suffering and disappointment; and continuing to grow throughout life.
The chapter titles, explanations, and applications have been revised according to the historical-grammatical meaning of Scripture. Particular attention is given to developing convictions that rest on accurately understood biblical truth and produce responsible conduct in the home, congregation, workplace, and community.
My prayer is that this updated edition will encourage readers to examine their beliefs by the Spirit-inspired Word, accept needed correction, and strengthen their confidence in Jehovah and His Son. May it help them develop a faith that continues to grow through understanding, obedience, love, and perseverance.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Charles H. Spurgeon (1834–1892) was one of the most influential Christian preachers of the nineteenth century. Known as the “Prince of Preachers,” he pastored the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, where thousands gathered weekly to hear his powerful, Scripture-centered sermons. A gifted expositor, prolific author, and passionate soul-winner, Spurgeon devoted his life to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and training others for faithful Christian service. His sermons, lectures, and books have shaped generations of pastors, teachers, evangelists, and lay believers. Among his many enduring works, The Soul Winner remains one of his most practical and stirring calls for Christians to reach the lost with courage, clarity, and compassion.
