More than a century has passed since Torrey’s gospel appeals. While his emphasis on repentance, faith in Christ, and Scripture’s authority remains vital, today’s world often encourages spiritual indifference, relativism, and distraction.
 
This edition is a 21st-century update of Torrey’s gospel call. I have preserved his urgency on repentance, faith, and decisive response while rewriting and expanding the material for today. The chapters call readers to face sin’s reality, trust fully in Christ’s atoning sacrifice and resurrection, submit to Scripture’s authority, and respond today—whether for salvation or renewed commitment. Each chapter addresses key themes: the urgency of the gospel, the authority of Scripture, the reality of sin, the need for repentance, faith in Christ alone, the necessity of a personal response, the role of the Spirit through the Word, Christian obedience, eternal consequences, personal evangelism, the church’s role, modern challenges, and living in light of the gospel.
 
Where needed, language and expressions have been clarified to ensure biblical accuracy. The Spirit’s guidance comes through the Spirit-inspired Word—not inward impressions.
 
My prayer is that this updated edition of The Gospel for Today will lead many to respond decisively to Christ without delay and live with renewed commitment to Him.
