BOOK DESCRIPTION

The Bible is a collection of 66 “books” that were written over a period of more than 1,600 years. Thirty-nine books of the Old Testament were written in Hebrew, with tiny portions in Aramaic, while the twenty-seven books of the New Testament were written in Koine (common) Greek. Therefore, we have 40+ authors penning sixty-six books over a 1600-year period in three languages and dozens of different cultures and historical settings. Because it was written so long ago, there are things that we, in the 21st century, may find difficult to understand. The unique commentary provides historical, social, and cultural background for many passages of the New Testament. The Introductions to the Bible books will provide valuable information on the background and contents of the books of the Bible. Readers can use this information to enhance their Bible reading and study. From Matthew through Revelation, this single volume accumulates and summarizes a wealth of specialized Bible background knowledge, making it available and reader-friendly to all readers of the New Testament. The reader will examine the evidence of its historical accuracy and reliability.
